“It is an honor to march, or ride, in a Memorial Day parade that should never be taken for granted.
Just ask Jack Peck, an 89 year-old Navy veteran who spent 58 years as a Fairport volunteer firefighter who attended the Fairport Memorial Day parade every year.
Jack has Multiple Myeloma, a cancer formed by malignant plasma cells. The treatments have stopped, and he has been told that he will live out his final days at the Serenity House in Victor.
One last Memorial Day parade seemed unlikely, but not impossible.
On Monday, Jack took what might be his last ride down Main Street in his hometown Memorial Day parade, something that means a lot to him.”
Jack passed away on August 22, 2017.
